STORY -

I tasked myself to design a catalogue that centers around the theme of time. I decided to look at time in a scientific manner. Time is finite, which brought me to the idea of longevity.

The concept revolves around how time “functions” in different species. I chose to look at the scientific understanding and research into how some species can live for up to 200 years in comparison to how humans have lived to a maximum of only around 120 years.

The science behind time and ageing made me look at the many different aspects of ageing – from heart rate and muscle mass to activity amount and diet. I catalogued “the old timers” – the animals who have lived the longest. I illustrated the most notable animals and created data visualizations that depended on the various variables that determine longevity. Each animal also had their own longevity break down at the end of the catalogue.
